Need to
get away from the hustle and bustle of you life?
Portage la
Prairie is the perfect spot to spend a day or two.
Here are a few
suggestions!
THE MIGHTY EXPLORER
Start
your adventure by visiting the
Fort la Reine Museum and experiencing
first hand what it was like to settle on the prairie frontier. After an
hour or two, visit one of our great restaurants or coffee shops! Or how
about taking a self guided tour of the heritage homes located throughout
Portage la Prairie! But don't stop now— there is another great exhibit
waiting at the
Craig Media Gallery! Finish your tour by exploring the
one-of-a-kind artwork & gift-shop!
DID YOU SAY GOLF?!
Plan to
stick around for a while because you won't want to leave without
visiting the Portage Golf Club. This great 18
hole golf course located on Island Park. This course is not only
challenging, but is one of the most beautiful courses in Manitoba.
After playing a round, relax in the fully licensed clubhouse for lunch.
Then take a tour down the road 3 kms south to
Southport's 9-hole
course. Rent a cart and give it a try!
Be sure to end your great golfing day at one of our restaurants or
exciting lounges throughout the City. Grab a hotel room and do it again
tomorrow!
BERRIES, BERRIES AND MORE BERRIES!
One
thing that is synonymous with Portage la Prairie is Berries!
Strawberries, Saskatoon's, Raspberries, Gooseberries, Sour cherries, and
High bush cranberries! You can find all of these in and around Portage
la Prairie. Take a quick drive to Portage la Prairie and pack a picnic
lunch to eat at beautiful Island Park and then visit one of the many
berry farms in the morning or afternoon. If you pick in the morning and
have children, then after lunch, perhaps a trip to Splash Island the
water park might complete your day in Portage la Prairie! The
Portage la Prairie area offers delectable berries ripe for picking every
year in July. Pick your own or get them pre-picked - you’ll come back
for more!
